天龍座流星雨(Draconids)爆發

1985年天龍座流星雨(Draconids)(註1)爆發後,在母體彗星21P/Giacobini-Zinner兩度回歸後,ZHR>500 的流星雨發生在 1998年10月8日, 國際標準時13h-14h UT的亞洲地區.依據日本 Koseki (21 名觀測者), 日本 Osada的詳細報告,以及中國的 Xing Ming 和 Jin Zhu , 日本 Jun-ichi Watanabe 目視與視訊觀測,捷克 Simek 的雷達觀測, Ewen-Smith (Portugal)與荷蘭 Bus的無線電觀測.

註1:天龍座流星雨其英文為Giacobinids或Draconid,但是Giacobinids應該用作Giacobini-Zinnerids才對,因為其母體彗星為21P/Giacobini-Zinner.

除另外註明,ZHRs以 r=2.0, alpha=262°, delta=+54°由Rainer Arlt推算.在峰值期間有許多暗流星記錄到,ZHR可能被低估.流星雨極大值發生在太陽黃經195.078+-0.010° (eq. 2000.0).
